  2. ║ SCORE Workshops Provide Basic & Specialized Training ║

  5. SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives Association, is
  6. made up of retired, professional business managers from all
  7. disciplines of business and government. In addition to providing
  8. free management counseling (see option #1, previous menu), it
  9. also sponsors over 3,100 training workshops nationwide, covering
  10. many of the most important topics to your business or business
  11. idea. Workshop topics include how to do business internationally,
  12. how to properly go into franchising, the latest Small Business
  13. Administration loan programs, how to start a business,
  14. legal/insurance/accounting considerations for small business.

  16. SCORE, because it is an independent, volunteer association, also
  17. has an advantage in flexibility and responsiveness. For example,
  18. when the Persian Gulf War resulted in small business owners and
  19. managers being called into active duty away from their
  20. businesses, SCORE took an active role in seeking out those
  21. affected business owners and provided counseling and workshops to
  22. those left behind--many of whom did not have the skills or
  23. experience to manage the business. When South Los Angeles was
  24. torn apart with rioting, SCORE immediately mobilized to put on
  25. "Getting Back Into Business" seminars for people whose businesses
  26. had been devastated.

  28. Over 100,000 people attend SCORE's workshops each year. There
  29. usually is a nominal fee for the all-day workshops. Fees range
  30. from $5 to $50, with most being between $15 and $25. The fees are
  31. used to help cover the materials and facilities costs. SCORE
  32. management experts volunteer their time for the workshop.

  34. Sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE has
  35. offices in nearly 800 locations nationwide. Many of these
  36. chapters put on workshops weekly or monthly. To find out where
